Renewable by Nature
Renewable energy generation is more than just a business for Ronan Group Renewables, it’s in our nature.
Owner and CEO of the business Conor Ronan has deployed new renewable technologies as they have developed over the last 30 years.
“It may be good business sense to invest in future trends, but it’s more important to ensure we have a healthy environment for our children. Thats the most important investment of all”, said Conor.
After initial investments in the forestry sector across the north west of Ireland Ronan Group Renewables quickly saw the opportunity in the fledgling wind farming sector and began to invest.
“It was a massive leap of faith to invest in wind back in 1995. The technology was unproven and the market was not developed, but to me it was obviously a step in the right direction and building on the knowledge we had acquired in forestry made sense,” he said.
Over the last 30 years the group has developed multiple wind farm projects across the country. Some projects have been retained in the company with others having been sold to other portfolios.
With a constant eye to the horizon of what’s next in renewable sector Ronan Group Renewables working with Hazelshore Ltd became involved in the Codling Wind Park project off the East Coast of Ireland nearly 20 years ago.
With a projected 1.5GW of capacity when operational the project will be the single largest wind development in Ireland and one of the largest ever foreign direct investments in the history of the state by the time it is developed.
“The wind industry has now gained an unstoppable momentum across the globe. Improvements in technology mean wind power is now cheaper than fossil fuels. And in Ireland we have the best wind resources in the world.” – Conor Ronan.
In the interim period the group has invested in and delivered BioMass, Solar Thermal and Solar PV technologies.
